The development of BSurvE at Massey University’s EpiCentre was initiated as a project conducted by the European Union TSE Community Reference Laboratory and the Veterinary Laboratories Agency Weybridge, United Kingdom.
BSurvE has been developed to: • estimate BSE infection prevalence in national herds • evaluate national surveillance programmes and • provide tools for optimising surveillance activities for infected and uninfected countries. The model received an excellent response following assessment by the European Food Safety Authority in October 2004 (their full report can be accessed at http://www.efsa.eu.int/science/tse_assessments/bse_tse/661_en.html), and the methods have also received support from the OIE Ad hoc Surveillance Group. BSurvE is a spreadsheet model produced using Microsoft Excel, and requires macros to be enabled (go to Tools – Options – Security – Macro Security, and set the option to medium or high). The latest version of the model and user information can be downloaded from the Downloads forum, and a Discussion forum is also available.WinZip may be needed to extract spreadsheet model. (WinZip) Please contact the Administrator if you have any queries about either BSurvE or this website. |
